PHAB is taking on new members

Exeter PHAB is looking for new members! PHAB is a national, well-established charity across England and Wales. They run fortnightly social clubs for disabled and able bodied young people, aged 8-20, on the University of Exeter campus. They aim to promote equality bybringing together people of all abilities, encouraging complete inclusion. For more information about PHAB, see our website:http://phab.org.uk/

Their next session will be 30/09/16 from 18.30 to 20.30. This session we will be making stained glass windows and light catchers for members to take home. Throughout the session there will be games, crafts and refreshments to keep our creative minds running.

They are accessible on their Facebook page (search ESV’s Phab Project) and by telephone on 07561260050

Congratulations to the Project

May we pass on our congratulations to The Project which has been shortlisted for a Community Organisation Award for Age at the National Diversity Awards 2016, taking place on 16th September in Liverpool. Good luck and the VOYC network wish you well at the ceremony.

Are you sitting comfortably…?

DCC urge people sat at their desks up and down the county to move more.

‘Are you sitting comfortably?’ highlights the risks of sedentary behaviour - plus simple things you can do to break it up and move more during your day.  We know that being active is great for our health but frequent movement during the day is just as important as regular physical activity.

To support the campaign, Devon County Council have developed a video clip, infographic and ‘sitting calculator’.  As most people are probably unaware of how sedentary they are, these digital tools are designed to raise awareness, trigger realisation and offer ideas for small changes that can make a difference.  More information www.devon.gov.uk/areyousittingcomfortably
