Child Assault Prevention (CAP UK) - Trustees wanted to join our Board.

About us:

This is an exciting time for CAP UK.  In 2016 we were awarded 5 years of Big Lottery Funding that has meant we have implemented recent expansion.  Last year we worked in 75 schools delivering our training to 14,796 children.  We have a small but dedicated trustee board that supports the organisation to achieve our targets.  However, we are looking for more trustees to join our board and continue to support CAP UK into the future.

Child Assault Prevention (CAP UK) is a charity that works to reduce children’s vulnerability to abuse. We do this by empowering them to recognise potentially dangerous situations and giving them strategies to get help. Our workshops teach children that they can say “No” to adults, even if the adults are in a position of trust. We also educate children that they never have to keep secrets that worry them and they have a right to keep telling until they get help.  Our approach to this sensitive and difficult subject is unique in the UK.

CAP UK has spent 24 years working with whole school communities by running workshops with parents and school staff before holding the children’s workshops. We also have a rolling programme of different inputs so that we return to schools every 18 months.

We would particularly like to hear from you if you have HR experience or would be happy to take minutes at our trustee meetings.

Your Commitment

We meet in the evening every 6- 8 weeks at our head office in Totnes, to discuss business and make decisions.  We also hold an AGM once a year.

You can also get involved in project sub-groups who take on particular tasks that need doing such as business planning or staff contracts.

If you are interested in helping our work and would like to join our board, contact Kate Shillaker, CEO on 01803 866559 or kate@safestrongfree.org.uk for an informal chat.
