Young Carers Support Worker

Hours per week:  18.5

Contract: Fixed term contract until 30/03/2023

Devon County Council has appointed Westbank as preferred provider for The Devon Young Carers service.

The focus of delivery for the service, which is embedded within Devon’s Early Help, will champion children/young people’s voice and engagement at every level of its delivery. This will include;

• Awareness raising amongst partners to promote early identification and referral into the service.

• A countywide helpline, providing easy access to information and support.

• A team of support staff providing Young Carers Needs Led Assessments, Transition Assessments, trips/activities and time-limited one-to-one support.

Shortlisting Criteria:

• Experience of providing one-to-one advice or support in a similar/relevant role.

• Experience of assessing and meeting carers needs (including emotional).

• Knowledge / understanding of health and social care services/provision.

• Good knowledge / understanding of carers and their issues.

• Excellent communication and inter-personal skills, with the ability to empathise with the needs of carers.

• Ability to develop and maintain constructive relationships

• Excellent administration, organisational and record-keeping skills, and ability to write in a clear, concise and professional manner

Interviews will be held on Wednesday 10^th July

(case study as part of the interview process) 

An Enhanced DBS Check is required for this role.
