This meeting will give you the chance for Kevin Kenna, Devon Children & Families Partnership – Multi Agency Safeguarding Hub (MASH) Manager and Jane Parmenter, Devon County Council Manager of Local Authority Designated Officer (LADO) Team, to explain the roles of their respective teams. You will then have the chance to ask them any questions you might have about the work of both the MASH and LADO’s. This is a great opportunity for those staff or Trustees with a responsibility for safeguarding and I would encourage all organisations to try and get someone to be with us on the 2 April.

Main Speakers:

Kevin Kenna: Devon Children & Families Partnership – Multi Agency Safeguarding Hub (MASH) Manager. The MASH is the central resource for the whole of Devon receiving all safeguarding and child protection enquiries. It is staffed with professionals from a range of agencies including police, probation, fire, ambulance, health, education and social care. These professionals share information to ensure early identification of potential significant harm, and trigger interventions to prevent further harm.

Jane Parmenter: Devon County Council – Manager of Local Authority Designated Officer (LADO) Team. Every local authority has a statutory responsibility to have a Local Authority Designated Officer (LADO) who is responsible for co-ordinating the response to concerns that an adult who works with children may have caused them or could cause them harm. The LADO works within Children’s Services and gives advice and guidance to employers, organisations and other individuals who have concerns about the behaviour of an adult who works with children and young people. Included in this group are volunteers, agency staff and foster carers as well as people who are in a position of authority and have regular contact with children, such as religious leaders, political figures or school governors.
