    Description:

    This one day, face to face, multi agency course will examine current knowledge and information regarding DVA.  It will equip practitioners with the skills they need to offer help and support to those who access their services as a result of DVA.  The course is practical and user-friendly.  Participants will experience an enjoyable and productive workshop involving group discussion and participative exercises.

    Brief Outline:

    The aims of the course are to raise awareness of the impact of abusive relationships, increase understanding of how best to offer help and support and raise standards of practice both individually and collectively.

    Who should attend:

    This course is suitable for all staff and volunteers who work with adults, children, young people or families.

    Course Outcomes:

    By the conclusion of the course, participants will be able to:

    - Demonstrate an understanding of the extent of DVA within our society and the effects that abuse can have within intimate relationships

    - Explore strategies and practices to protect and safeguard those experiencing DVA

    - Practice using appropriate interventions

    Suggested Frequency:

    To be completed by all Universal Services, before attending Part 2 Responding to Domestic Abuse (Group 3 Refresher or Special Interest) or Part 3 Challenging Domestic Abuse (Group 4 Refresher or Special Interest)

    This course is a pre-requisite for both Part 2 and Part 3

    Funding/Cancellation Policy

    You must have the agreement of your Manager or Funding Agency to attend this course, unless you wish to attend in a self-funding capacity.  Please note that if payment is not received for delegates from non-partner agencies 4 weeks before the course is due to run your place may be cancelled.

    Please make yourself aware of the cancellation policy before booking a place as cancellations with less than 4 week's notice of the course date will incur a charge unless a substitute is found.
