Learn Explore Debate (LED) - Making the 30 hour offer work for disabled children and children with SEN

This series of LED events will have a specific focus ‘Making the 30 hour offer work for disabled children and children with SEN’.

These events aim to:

• Improve knowledge of what high quality SEND provision looks like (e.g. learning from members of SEND advisory Board)
• Support setting to know where to go for help, e.g. on how to use the disability access fund or access funding via inclusion fund
• Signposting to resources to support sector

The events will offer the opportunity to:

Learn

• About sources of information and support which are available to all providers to extend and develop high quality inclusive practice for children with SEND
• About what others are doing to prepare for and meet the needs of disabled children and children with SEN and their families
• About why access to high quality early years and childcare is vital in improving outcomes for children with SEND
• About the funding streams which will be available to improve whole setting access and inclusion and to support particular children or groups of children to be included

Explore

• The opportunities and challenges in developing develop whole setting inclusive practice
• The workforce development needs of all practitioners as part of on going planning for sustainability and staff well-being and retention
• Involving parents in the ways in which their child can best be supported and included in the provision and identifying the outcomes for the child and family
• Range of existing and emerging approaches which work for children with SEND including SCLN/ASD/SENSORY NEEDS/SEMH

Debate

• To explore effective models of support for children including examining the impact of individual support on children’s outcomes independence and wellbeing
• Next steps and keeping up the momentum
