Neuro-diversity & Behaviour Support in Exeter

This is a ticket only event. All tickets are free of charge.

BIS-net works with families, parents and individuals to help find individualised ways to support them with behaviours that can lead to social isolation. We also strongly feel it is down to settings and services to be able to make reasonable adjustments and encourage understanding amongst staff to ensure the community is an accessible place for all. This conference is a chance for parents, carers and the individuals with Behaviour Support needs themselves to have their voices heard, as well as to access information and ideas from our guest speakers. To encourage as many as possible to attend we are providing this conference free of charge.

Our eventual aim is to create a set of guidelines, put together from extensive consultation with families, that can be distributed to a large number of local business, settings and services. We want to make it standard practice for those providing services and products in our community to follow these guidelines, in order to make it a more accessible place for all.

Our 2017 conference takes place on Friday 22nd September, at  from 9.30 to 3.30. Come for the day, or drop in for a session. It’s free to attend and we invite all parents, young people, and interested parties to come along. We’ll be exploring how accessible Exeter is, for people with Autism, ADHD, and other developmental and behavioural differences.

What you can look forward to at this years conference:

• Presentation by Tom Moore, an autistic young man from Guernsey
• Your opportunity to tell us what works, and what doesn’t, for your family, in EXETER
• Presentation by Paula Sanchez, a late-diagnosed autistic woman who has an autistic son
• Question and answer session
• Generous snack and refreshment selection
• A designated quiet space for any who need it.
