Devon County Council has appointed Westbank as the preferred provider for The Devon Young Carers service.
The focus of delivery for the service is embedded within Devon’s Early Help, will champion children/young people’s voice and engagement at every level of its delivery.
Overall Job Purpose:
- To undertake assessments of young carers in order to identify their needs
- To support the provision of practical and emotional support for young carers by planning, organizing, delivering, monitoring and evaluating respite breaks/trips and activities, including residentials
- Where relevant, support local communities (child-friendly places) e.g. schools, youth clubs to provide regular drop-ins/ clubs for young carers and attend where appropriate to do so
- Undertake particular areas of specialisms linked to young carers issues and share knowledge with colleagues; e.g. bullying, mental ill-health, digital wellbeing, neglect, radicalisation

Shortlisting Criteria:
- Experience of working with for Children/young people
- Experience of assessing and meeting carers needs (including emotional).
- Understanding of and sensitivity to the needs of young carers and their families
- Good knowledge / understanding of carers and their issues.
- Excellent communication and inter-personal skills, with the ability to empathise with the needs of carers.
- Ability to develop and maintain constructive relationships
- The ability to undertake risk/needs assessments of children/young people
- A clean driver’s license and access to a vehicle
- Proven reliability and professionalism
