Description :

The principal responsibility of the role is to support the Child Centred Policing Team in engaging with children and young people across Devon and Cornwall in order to embed the views, ideas and lived experience of young people into policing practices, policies and provision, and to continually improve our service delivery. This will involve working with a wide network of colleagues and partner agencies to support with the development and delivery of Youth Advisory Groups across the whole force area.

To work collaboratively with colleagues, key partner agencies and young people to support the development and delivery of Independent Youth Advisory Groups across the force area.

To support with the promotion of the Youth Advisory Group/s and the recruitment and training of Youth Independent Advisors.

Build professional, trusting relationships with a diverse range of children and young people in order to help them to build their skills and confidence to voice their opinions and ideas, share relevant lived experiences, and design and carry out peer research.

As this is an apprenticeship position, the role requires the postholder engage with a college course over the first 18-24 months in the role, working towards completion of a relevant Level 4 or 5 Qualification relating to engagement with Children and Young People. The postholder will be fully supported in this, and 20% of their working hours will be spent attending college and undertaking work to complete this qualification.
